Your talk is great, but unfortunately, Adventists don't live according to their talk. just to say My friend there is a HUGE fight in our Church the SDA church to break down this separation but it is not by choice of the Caucasians. it is A CHOICE by the Afro population them selves. and there is a movement to break down these barriers Please pray i believe the devil is working to destroy every one of the Lords Children, including trying to take away the blessed sacrifice our lord Gave and the father gave all for us… he EMPTIED all of heaven n the enemy of souls doesn't want us to regard it as a perfect sacrifice. I will say we are even having a church business meeting on our music programing.. so this issue is a satter on my own heart… there is fighting all the way round to destroy worship and of the True God…Quote

And yes, you are right about Christians needing to be careful about what music we listen to inside and outside of the church.Quote
0#16ir18442010-05-01 04:21I really enjoy this 4 part series on music worship and how the churches today think that by adding worldly music to worhip the lord it is permissible today and the sad thing about it they use david experience when he was worshiping in the spirit thank you again GOD BLESS .Quote

+4#14Batsirai2010-04-18 14:43Thanks for exposing the truth about true worship and praise. I pray that I will be also used by the holy spirit to awaken many of the people trapped in this counterfeit. This is my testimony, I was addicted to RnB music then by grace of God I got victory, but now I became addicted to gospel music. I am struggling to pray and studying God's word because I cannot unplug the ear buds from my ears. Yes the music sounds good and innocent but its stealing the time I need in devotion. Honestly, my spiritual life hasn't gotten any better since I started listening to so called "christian music ". It's all fantasy! So today I decided to delete my itunes and trash my cds so I can save money, clear my mind and hear the Holy Spirit speaking to me as I begin to pray and studying the word.Quote

The present sounds good. However, a text out of context is a pretext. The uses of 2 Chronicles "One sound" needs some biblical examination…
Pastor Steve, your comment is based on the assumption that God is the creator of "everything." For sure God did not create the poisonous herb, for Ellen White said Satan created these through amalgamation (see SM book 2, p. 288). Satan was created with pipes within himself, and can certainly create negative influences though music. To say he did not create certain sounds, or even perhaps instruments, to suit his own devilish purpose, is ignorance at best.Quote
You seem to be putting personal preference and cultural above a 'Thus Saith the Lord.' Nothing is above the Bible.Quote

Literalism bad when you are seeking to teach some truth. The misapplication comes out of the presenters opinion rather than the biblical exposition. If God is the creator of everything, including Lucifer, how can you give credit to Satan for creating something he received from God. It is the misapplication of the gift which is at the focus of the matter. This is what Ellen White is talking about, the misapplication or misuses of that which God gave.
Ellen White encourages a balance approach. You are bordering on extremism.Quote
+5#9David2009-12-16 07:12As someone who has 2 uncles who are pastors in the pentecostal church and yet another uncle who is a Bishop in the church; I can understand the hurt feelings over this message. When i first joined the Adventist church i thought the music was corny and that there was a bias towards my peoples music (African/African American). In some cases this was true, there is much bigotry to combat; but at the end of the day, the Bible must be our guide and culture must be sacrificed on the altar Christs character. I got rid of many CD's without any prompting from anyone, but a conviction of the Holy Spirit. The roots of the music ROCK RAP and R&B is not from the worship of GOD but of idols, the dead and devils. Better to play this issue safe. Mrs. White said it's better to abandon music altogether then to make it a point of descention or controversy.Quote
